The Corporation is a 2003 Canadian documentary film written by University of British Columbia law professor Joel Bakan, and directed by Mark Achbar and Jennifer Abbott. The documentary examines the modern-day corporation. This is explored through specific examples. Bakan wrote the book, The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power, during the filming of the documentary.
The documentary shows the development of the contemporary business corporation, from a legal entity that originated as a government-chartered institution meant to affect specific public functions, to the rise of the modern commercial institution entitled to most of the legal rights of a person. The documentary concentrates mostly upon North American corporations, especially those of the United States. One theme is its assessment as a “personality”, as a result of an 1886 case in the United States Supreme Court in which a statement by Chief Justice Morrison R. Waite[nb 1] led to corporations as “persons” having the same rights as human beings, based on the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.
Topics addressed include the Business Plot, where in 1933, General Smedley Butler exposed an alleged corporate plot against then U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt; the tragedy of the commons; Dwight D. Eisenhower’s warning people to beware of the rising military-industrial complex; economic externalities; suppression of an investigative news story about Bovine Growth Hormone on a Fox News Channel affiliate television station at the behest of Monsanto; the invention of the soft drink Fanta by the Coca-Cola Company due to the trade embargo on Nazi Germany; the alleged role of IBM in the Nazi holocaust (see IBM and the Holocaust); the Cochabamba protests of 2000 brought on by the privatization of a municipal water supply in Bolivia; and in general themes of corporate social responsibility, the notion of limited liability, the corporation as a psychopath, and the corporation as a person.
Through vignettes and interviews, The Corporation examines and criticizes corporate business practices. The film’s assessment is effected via the diagnostic criteria in the DSM-IV; Robert D. Hare, a University of British Columbia psychology professor and a consultant to the FBI, compares the profile of the contemporary profitable business corporation to that of a clinically diagnosed psychopath (however, Hare has objected to the manner in which his views are portrayed in the film; see “critical reception” below). The Corporation attempts to compare the way corporations are systematically compelled to behave with what it claims are the DSM-IV’s symptoms of psychopathy, e.g. callous disregard for the feelings of other people, the incapacity to maintain human relationships, reckless disregard for the safety of others, deceitfulness (continual lying to deceive for profit), the incapacity to experience guilt, and the failure to conform to social norms and respect the law. However, the DSM has never included a psychopathy diagnosis, rather proposing antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) with the DSM-IV. ASPD and psychopathy, while sharing some diagnostic criteria, are not synonymous.

Must Watch: Short Film Exposes The Lunacy Of WATER FLUORIDATION

Right now, a lot of controversy is brewing over water fluoridation. According to the film below, governments have been adding this chemical to our water supply for over 50 years now, and in more recent years, a wealth of information has surfaced about the dangers of this practice. We started adding fluoride to our water supply at around the same time that it was considered safe and healthy to smoke cigarettes, use lead paint, spray DDT, and test nuclear bombs, and I believe it’s safe to say that our understanding has shifted drastically in the last century.
We have realized that some of the things that scientists may have thought were okay at the time, actually weren’t, and there is nothing wrong with that — our knowledge and understanding of medicine changes all the time; we adapt, we adjust, we improve. So why is there still so much resistance to adapting now?
Aside from the fact that fluoride is a toxic chemical (we’ll get into that more a bit later), it is being added to the public water supply without our consent. That alone should raise some red flags, because, simply put, this constitutes forced medication. When is it ever acceptable to force someone to take medication against his or her will? This is actually preposterous and it completely violates our rights as human beings. If someone feels strongly that fluoride would be a benefit to their family’s and their own oral hygeine, they should be able to ask a dentist for a supply or get a prescription from a doctor. Fluoride is a drug and it makes absolutely no sense not to treat it like one. As things currently stand it is an entirely unregulated substance and there is absolutely no way to measure the dosage we are receiving. This is something to think about.

First Charges Filed Against Officials Behind the Flint Water Crisis
APRIL 27, 2016 / CULTURE OF AWARENESS By Julie Fidler, Natural Society
Three Michigan officials were charged last Wednesday for their roles in the Flint water crisis. The charges were announced just a day after a federal judge tossed out a $150 million class action lawsuit over the lead-contaminated water, saying the courts lacked jurisdiction.
The workers – an employee of Flint and 2 state workers tasked with monitoring water quality in cities – are accused, in part, of covering up evidence of lead contamination. They are the 1st, but almost certainly not the last, to face criminal charges related to the failures that allowed city residents to drink, bathe in, and cook with lead-filled tap water for many months. Some of the charges are felonies carrying penalties of up to 5 years in prison.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette emphasized that his investigation, which was launched in January, is in its early stages.
Schuette said:
“These charges are only the beginning. There will be more to come – that I can guarantee you.”
The defendants- Michael Prysby, a district engineer with the State Department of Environmental Quality; Stephen Busch, a district supervisor in the same department; and Michael Glasgow, Flint’s utilities manager – are accused of tampering with evidence contained in reports on lead levels in city water. The 2 state officials are also facing allegations of conspiracy to tamper with evidence.
The workers reportedly directed city residents to run their water before it was tested, thereby distorting the results. They also allegedly failed to collect samples from houses they were required to test. This made the levels of lead in the water supply appear significantly less dangerous than they actually were, which falsely reassured officials who could have taken action months earlier, as well as residents, that their water was harmless. A couple of years ago, a ground breaking publication in one of the top main-stream medical journals added six additional substances into its classification of neurotoxicants, and one of them was fluoride.Fluoride is commonly used in dental products, and still remains as an additive in the drinking water supply of numerous communities all over the world. Although activism has been successful in removing it in many countries, cities and communities, some still remain who have yet to take action, one for example, is Toronto, a city of five million plus people.
The abstract reads as follows:
“Neurodevelopmental disabilities, including autism, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia and other cognitive impairments, affect millions of children worldwide, and some diagnoses seem to be increasing in frequency. Industrial chemicals that injure the developing brain are among the known causes for this rise in prevalence. In 2006, we did a systematic review and identified five industrial chemicals as developmental neurotoxicants: lead, methyl mercury (common in vaccines), polychlorinated biphenyls, arsenic and toluene. Since 2006, epidemiological studies have documented six additional developmental neurotoxicants – manganese, fluoride, chlorpyrifos, dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, tetrachloroethylene, and the polybrominated dihenyl ethers. We postulate that even more neurotoxicants remain undiscovered. To control the pandemic of developmental neurotoxicity, we propose a global prevention strategy. Untested chemicals should not be presumed to be safe to brain development, and chemicals in existing use and all new chemicals must therefore be tested for developmental neurotoxicity. To coordinate these efforts and to accelerate translation of science into prevention, we propose the urgent formation of a new international clearinghouse”
It’s quickly becoming a known fact that the fluoride in our drinking water is harmful, it’s not even the natural element of fluoride, it’s industrial toxic waste. There’s a reason multiple countries and communities all over the world are putting an end to water fluoridation.

Fluoride amounts to public murder on a grand scale. What Exactly Are We Drinking?
So what exactly are we drinking? The substance added to our drinking water is called hydrofluorosilicic acid. It is a toxic waste substance created from the production of aluminum, fertilizer, steel and nuclear industries. It’s not the natural element of fluoride, again, it’s industrial toxic waste.
For example, in the Phosphate Mining & Production Industry, much of the hydrofluorosilicic acid occurs from strip-mined rock. The rock is broken up, placed in giant vats where sulfuric acid is also added to get rid of whatever phosphate (and other contaminants) are in the rock. While the phosphate is extracted, the contaminants used to be released into the atmosphere. This was creating more pollution, and killing animal and plant life.
Against Environmental Regulations
Environmental regulations were put in place where pollution control devices were set up in order to capture the contaminants, like arsenic, lead, mercury, silicofluoride and more. Included in the pollution control device is hydrofluorosilicic acid, so toxic that one needs to wear a full body suit and mask to be around it. These contaminants are then taken out of the chimneys (scrubbed off with the acid) and stored in “open-air cooling lakes,” which are further exposed to airborne contaminants. (See video below)
In regard to the use of fluorosilicic acid as a source of fluoride for fluoridation, this agency regards such use as an ideal environmental solution to a long-standing problem. Industrial practices produce millions and millions of gallons of this liquid hazardous waste. Because it costs these corporations thousands and thousands of dollars per ton to neutralize and dispose of (hydrofluorosilicic acid), they instead sell it to the population as a ‘product.’ How ridiculous is that? Hydrofluorosilicic acid is shipped to your local drinking water supplier.
If this stuff gets out into the air, it’s a pollutant; if it gets into the river, it’s a pollutant; if it gets into the lake, it’s a pollutant; but if it goes right straight into your drinking water system, it’s not a pollutant. Our world is currently experiencing great changes on multiple levels, and one of them is health. People all across the globe are becoming more conscious about their health, and are starting to notice the many problems that are associated with the global health industry. A great example of this over the past few years has been the emergence of studies that shed light on the dangers of pesticides and non-organic food, and the fact that genetically modified food might not be safe as we thought. Fluoride however, is arguably the biggest indication that the world of health is changing for the better as so many communities and cities all over the world have removed it. FRAUD ALERT: Red Cross squandered $500M in donations for Haitian recovery effort; promised to establish ‘brand-new communities’ while building only SIX homes

(NaturalNews) Is it really possible for a globally-known and world renowned charity to raise half-a-billion dollars for reconstruction after a natural disaster … and only build a half-dozen new homes?
Yes – if you’re the American Red Cross.
An investigative report by Pro Publica noted that in 2011, the organization launched a multi-million-dollar project to transform one of Haiti’s poorest communities, which was hard-hit by the earthquake that had struck the Caribbean nation the year before. The project, called LAMIKA – an acronym in Creole for “A Better Life in My Neighborhood” – aimed to build hundreds of permanent homes in Campeche, a poor neighborhood in the capital city of Port-au-Prince.
After raising some $500 million for the effort, the Red Cross publicly celebrated the feat. But that’s about as far as the organization got; it has accomplished virtually nothing on the ground in Haiti.
Where did all the money go?
As Pro Publica reported further:
The Red Cross says it has provided homes to more than 130,000 people. But the actual number of permanent homes the group has built in all of Haiti: six.
After the earthquake, Red Cross CEO Gail McGovern unveiled ambitious plans to “develop brand-new communities.” None has ever been built.

Haiti was, and still remains, the Western Hemisphere’s most economically depressed country, and aid groups from around the globe have struggled there following the earthquake. But an investigation by Pro Publica and NPR shows that for the Red Cross at least, its failures are largely of the group’s own doing. What’s more, the organization’s failings in Haiti are typical, following botched delivery operations after other disasters like Superstorm Sandy. That said, the Red Cross nevertheless continues to be a top charity for tens of millions of Americans and many corporations following such disasters.
In a highly critical memo written in 2011, then-director of the Red Cross’ Haitian program, Judith St. Fort, said her organization was failing in the hard-hit country, and that senior managers had made improper, disparaging remarks against Haitian employees.
What’s more, the organization refused requests from investigative reporters to disclose details of how it has spent hundreds of millions of dollars in donations – though it is obvious that what money has been spent did not go towards housing, as promised. Also, Pro Publica noted that its investigators did find that less money reached those in need than Red Cross officials have said.
Since the organization lacked in-house expertise to mount much of its own operation in Haiti, it was forced to rely on other groups to do work for it, and that is where much of the money went. But those groups took a portion of every dollar to cover overhead and management costs. And even with projects that were done by other groups, the Red Cross spent much of the money on its own overhead – salaries, included – that amounted to, in one case, a third of the project’s budget.
‘It’s not possible’
Following the St. Fort memo, Red Cross officials claimed that they moved quickly to correct the problems she laid out. Also, the organization claims it has completed more than 100 projects in Haiti, but won’t provide a breakdown of what they are.
Projects supposedly include repairing 4,000 homes, giving temporary shelter to several thousand families, donating $44 million in food following the quake, as well as providing some funding to help build a hospital.
“Millions of Haitians are safer, healthier, more resilient, and better prepared for future disasters thanks to generous donations to the American Red Cross,” McGovern wrote in a recent report commemorating the fifth anniversary of the quake.
But again, the organization has not provided any proof or details to back up those claims. And Haiti’s former prime minister, Jean-Max Bellerive, doubts the Red Cross’ figures, pointing out that the entire country only has a population of about 10 million people.
“No, no,” Bellerive said of the Red Cross claim, “it’s not possible.”
